The Desert Storm was a one of the biggest war after WWII in the Midle East. In this part we are writing about some photos and plastc scale models in contet with photos. We have an article series in dvmodel.com - remembering the Desert Storm. Two trucks of Iraqi army at the focus now.
How did the East German "miracle" get into the desert?
In the years of 70-80's the Iraqi armys tools comes from the Eastern-Block. In the past IFA W50 ( and its versions ) was one of the regular truck in the Iraqi Army. This model was made in East-Germany ( ex. DDR ). Most Russian military equipment arrived in the country, but the plethora of IFAs that went into military service in Iraq was an interesting highlight. Moreover neighboring Iran has used this type of truck in large numbers too, so photos of the Iraq-Iran war also show plenty of IFAs.
As you can see on the pictures the painting on the IFA-s was not the "difficult". There is a succesfull book about the Iran-Iraqi war that shows the details of the paintings: AK-Interactive 291 THE IRAN IRAQ WAR 1980-1988 – MODERN CONFLICTS PROFILE GUIDE VOL. IV.

What about the plastic scales models of IFA?
We have a good and bad news too. Good to know that there is a possibility to build an IFA plastic scale model moreover in 1:35 scale. There is a super hungraian manufactuer that made 3 sets in this topic. There are three IFA W50s in the range of the Balaton Modell. But the problem is this range is not equal to the range of trucks in the Iraqi army. There was a possibilitiy to buy a kits in 1:72 from Armada Models in the past its had got a wild range of products IFA. But nowadays the products from Aramada are unavailable inventory
This type of scale model was the most similar to a real truck. The problem is this model is only in 1:72 and not available at the moment on the market
